Diana is full time Lecturer, Professional Practice at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University

About Diana:

Dr Diana Tolmie has led an exciting life as a freelance woodwind specialist in a multitude of genres, performing in countless live radio and television broadcasts and interstate and international tours spanning Europe, Oceania and America.

Working with many Australian professional orchestras for the past 28 years, including the acclaimed Malaysian Philharmonic, Diana has additionally explored chamber music with her nationally recognised group Collusion, which continues to commission, record and tour Australian new music and dance collaboratives.

A recipient of the Churchill Fellowship Award and the Queen Elizabeth Trust Scholarship, more recently Arts Queensland and Australia Council for the Arts funding has contributed to her woodwind performance and recording activities.

She has appeared as soloist with the Queensland Philharmonia Orchestra, Brisbane Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Wind Orchestra, the Con Spiritus Orchestra, the Wisconsin Wind Orchestra, plus featured with the Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse in the 2015 XVII World Saxophone Congress.

Currently endorsed by D’Addario Woodwind, Diana is full time Lecturer, Professional Practice at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University passionately teaching saxophone, pedagogy, musicians’ health and vocational preparation. Under her directorship, she has commissioned and recorded two albums of the Queensland Conservatorium Saxophone Orchestra, available via CD Baby and iTunes.

Her teaching excellence has been recognised and awarded an AEL Group Learning & Teaching Citation (2014), and a Highly Commended in the “Employability within the Curriculum” category of the Griffith University Awards for Excellence in Teaching (2016).

In high demand as a woodwind specialist, Diana has performed in over 50 professional music theatre productions and is currently working with John Frost’s The Wizard of Oz.
