Roman is Lecturer in French Horn at Monash University
Roman Ponomariov’s work as a teacher, academic, soloist and orchestral musician is unified by his commitment to achieving artistic excellence. He is a lecturer in classical performance (French Horn), coordinator of Wind , Brass, Percussion, and convenor of classical department at Monash University.
Roman is renowned for his belief in placing students’ needs, interests and experience at the centre of his teaching. He is in demand as an instrumental teacher and lecturer at Australia’s leading tertiary institutions and tutors at Victoria’s State Music Camp and throughout the annual seasons of the Australian Youth Orchestra and Melbourne Youth Orchestras.
With a passion for academic research, Roman’s current interests centre upon the ways in which operatic singing techniques – including posture, air support, and projection – guide brass players’ technical development.
