Joshua is Principal Flute of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra
Joshua Batty is the Principal Flute with Sydney Symphony Orchestra, having held the same position with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Ireland and tutor of flute at the Royal Northern College of Music before that.
He began his studies at Chetham’s School of Music, UK during which time he became Principal Flute of the National Youth Orchestra GB. He was later awarded a full scholarship from the Royal Academy of Music, London where he studied with Michael Cox completing his Undergraduate in 2014.
While a student of the school, Joshua spent a year studying with Jacques Zoon at the HEMGE (Switzerland) where he became Principal Flute of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester.
Professionally, Joshua has guested as Principal Flute with many leading orchestras across the world, performing and recording extensively across UK, Europe, USA, South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Solo highlights including at Buckingham Palace, with recitals and masterclasses at International Flute Conventions in UK, Ireland, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand.
